Ichorise Mohoebi

Ichorise Mohoebi is BEDCO’s flagship programme cutting across all other services provided by the organisation. It is a capacity building programme with 3 components namely: 

i) Business Management Training, 
ii) Technical skills training in various trades and 
iii) Mentoring services. 
There is also an Iketsetse Mohoebi Productivity sub-programme which focuses on crafts.

Business Management Training

There are three generic training manuals for MSMEs business management training namely, Start Your Business Module, Operate Your Business Module and Grow Your Business Module which will be the anchor for implementation of the Ichorise Mohoebi Entrepreneurial Capacity Building Program. Apart from these manuals, International Labour Organization’s accredited training packages such as Women’s Entrepreneurship Development Program (ILO-WED) and Start and Improve Your Business Program (ILO-SIYB) will be administered to the relevant groups by accredited trainers. A third category of training materials will be those developed by the Consultants for specialized topics such as quality management and branding & brand management.

Technical Skill Training

While were are known for our expertise in the textile and woodwork technical skills training, we also offer training in various other trades depending on the identified needs of our clients such as catering and food processing skills.

Mentoring Services

Iketsetse Mohoebi

The entrepreneurs will be provided with technical skills in the sectors of crafts, grass-made products, pottery, jewelry, aloe products, mosaic and other craft work by an external technology consultants to start or improve their business enterprises using natural resources or easily accessible raw materials. The technology consultants will develop the training materials which will be approved by BEDCO for training. Upon completion of technical training, business management training is provided. Once the entrepreneurs have been provided with both trainings, a day is selected where the demo products are displayed and potential stakeholders and buyers are invited. A value chain around the product is developed and relevant stakeholders identified. BEDCO consultant will then assist the entrepreneurs with other BDS support. The trained entrepreneurs will also be considered for incubation based on BEDCO’s Incubation Policy. All arts and crafts related projects which BEDCO implements with its strategic partners such as CIEP will be implemented under this sub-programme.

Program Objectives

The capacity building program is intended to achieve the following objectives: 
•To capacitate entrepreneurs to operate their businesses competitively 
•To improve technical skills, product development and creativity of MSMEs in the identified priority sectors

Outcomes

The capacity building program is expected to yield the following outcomes: 
•Improved efficiency and effectiveness in running businesses. At least 80 workshops will be conducted per year for various modules according to the identified needs.
• Establishment of new enterprises. At least 30% of people trained in business start-up, and offered other support services will establish new businesses in a year. 
• Improved product quality compared to the year before.

Impact

The proposed program is expected to facilitate the development of sustainable and competitive MSMEs which will contribute towards job creation and poverty reduction in Lesotho.
